Oh friends, it’s my favorite time of year!!
And a few of my favorite festive things are red, lace, and fresh evergreen!
THE SCENE
I got together with Misti of Pink Fly Photography at North Pole Tree Farms in Dallas – the most adorable little tree lot which is quite the winter wonderland when you step inside!
Growing up, getting the Christmas tree was the BIGGEST deal to me. My birthday is November 30 and often falls on Thanksgiving weekend, so the Friday after Thanksgiving we would all pile into the family van, pick a tree farm with good reviews that was far enough away that it felt like a special outing, and play Christmas music all the way.
The tree needed to be tall – my 6’4″ dad would raise his arm and declare if it was over 8 feet, and the shape and branches needed to look full but still ornament-friendly.
Then Dad would get down on the ground with his handsaw and hack away while we cheered him on, and my brother and I would help him carry it and get it up on the car.
Every time I’m around fresh evergreen, it takes me back to those wonderful adventures!
We’ve been continuing the tradition with David and Juliette, and I’m so excited for her Christmas memories to be filled with evergreen wonderlands and fresh pine scent in the house.
THE LOOK
I bought this dress when I was still pregnant with Donovan because I saw it at a little designer resale boutique in Georgetown and fell in love! I had to take the chance that it would fit, and now that he has left his little tummy home, it does!
Turns out it’s actually a new dress from the brand Alexis and there are a ton of other versions that are just as adorable, festive, and chic. See below for my favorites that are still available!
My leggings are from Forever 21 and my over-the-knee boots (which came in size 11, praise the Lord hahaha) are by Catherine Malandrino and super comfortable! I walked all over Paris last fall in them and was still feeling great at the end of the day, so I call it a winner.
I grabbed my purse at a TJ Maxx in Madison, MS a few years back – a $400 Ralph Lauren marked down to $100! It has stood the test of time, being banged around as my primary purse cum diaper bag! And it’s still in great shape!
My lipstick is Chanel ‘Allure’ and the lipliner is Chanel ‘Seduction.’ It makes you feel about that fabulous to apply 😉
