At the Foot of the Waterfall

Hello, beautiful!

This week finds us back in the beautiful Swiss Alps for part two of my thoughts from the extraordinary force of nature Trummelbach Falls.

If you’ve ever looked for the final answer on getting over the hurts you know or suspect you are harboring, this week I am breaking it down as to where to go for the official ‘power cleanse!’ Or in this waterfall analogy, ‘power wash’!

There are a million promised ‘fixes’ for our hurts – from food to drugs to apathy. Can you guess the quick answer? None of them work.

But there is someone who is known as gentle and kind (which He is!) who can help. Because He’s not only gentle, He’s a powerhouse! Not a man to be messed with, and if you have joined His team, you better believe He’s not going to let anybody mess with you!

Come and meet Him, and get to know a new friend – or maybe a friend you’ve had forever but been underestimating – who has exactly what you’re looking for and can’t wait to give it to you.

The full transcript is below for you busy babes, as always. 🙂

Love and Freedom,

Jackie

Hi, I’m Jackie Dixon and you’re watching VLX TV!

This little stream right next to me is at the base of Trummelbach Falls, right outside of Interlaken Switzerland. Trummelbach Falls is the only glacier waterfall in Europe that’s inside a mountain and still accessible to people.

If you watched last week’s episode when I talked about what we can learn from this powerful force and what it teaches us about ourselves, then you know how much this water is shaping the mountain inside and out.

On the outside, these mountains look impenetrable, but this water is literally shaping it to its will.

The things we think and believe subconsciously that are holding us back are doing the same thing to us.

And when we have trouble feeling positive about ourselves or about life, feeling close to God, or having healthy relationships that we can maintain – odds are excellent that there is something underneath the surface that is slowly shaping us wrongly and misleading us day by day.

So what do we do? As I said last time, first we explore our hearts and minds, and figure out what the wounds are, where they came from, and how they’re misleading us.

Then we find out about what the truth in these areas really is.

But there’s one more step, and it helps with step two as well. That step would be healing.

But where do we go for healing? Not back to the lies we’re trying to break free from.

We don’t want to go back to overeating, or overspending, or unhealthy relationships or habits.

We go to Christ. We go to the Word of God. Christ was the Word of God made flesh so the two cannot be separated, remember.

The Word teaches us the truth, and Christ loves us and forgives us so that we can receive it.

Jesus is often called a healer, and He is. After all, He went around healing and teaching – that’s what the Bible says. And He’s often portrayed as someone who’s meek and gentle, and safe to come to – and believe me, He is! He’s as safe and welcoming and easy to come to as this beautiful, peace-giving little stream.

Well let me introduce you to another side of Jesus. It looks something more like this.

Pretty powerful, huh? Christ also called Himself the Living Water. Now water can be powerful. It has the strength to etch through rock. It has the strength to flush out things that are in the way. It has the strength to move entire boulders. It has the power to shape the Swiss Alps.

It also has the power to etch new streams in our hearts and minds. Even where wounds have run deep, and we have canyons and pits of despair that we don’t ever think we’re going to get out of.

Now the coolest thing about this last step of healing is that you can take it anywhere. You don’t have to travel to some huge waterfall to receive the healing of Christ. He’s not looking for perfection, or even presentability, and He definitely doesn’t need you in some kind of specific location.

He’s just looking for a receptive heart, and you can offer that whatever you are. All it takes is the courage to explore where you’ve been hurt, and the willingness to let someone who’s incredibly powerful and adores you, take those wounds away for you.
